Very Unique Use of A Side Yard

Brings Natural Beauty In Rocklin Neighborhood

I get around our neighborhoods every week and I frequently see things that are very creative.  I don’t think I’ve seen this in any neighborhood before and I thought it was special/sharable.

I was in the Sunset West subdivision of Rocklin dropping off informational/marketing flyers and came across a homeowner who had transformed their side yard on a corner lot into a beautiful garden oasis with flowers, brick planter boxes, fruit trees, corn and what I think is onions.

It’s clearly meant to be not only a functional garden but also very decorative.  I couldn’t help but snap a couple of photos.

There is a bale of hay in the center under the fruit tree that has tomato plants growing in it I think but I’m not sure.  They could also have been bean or potato plants but I could be wrong.  The big takeaway I got is that this is the best use I’ve seen of a side yard in the neighborhood.

Most side yards are storage areas or grown over with weeds or just not used functionally at all.  This particular home is bordered on one side by a less traveled street and then a court so there isn’t much traffic here.  It’s a beautiful use of an otherwise unused area.  Nice work!!
