Granite Oaks Students Stepping Up For Local Non Profit
Do have a computer sitting around collecting dust? Stats are that most of us do. I know I do.
Why not drop off that old computer at Granite Oaks Middle School and help a local non-profit organization in the process?
The Granite Oaks Middle School 7th grade California Junior Scholarship Federation is hosting an e-waste collection drive in collaboration with CEAR, as state licensed recycler of e-waste. Every year, the CJSF is an honor society that hosts a yearly community service project and this year they chose e-waste recycling.
The proceeds of the drive will go to benefit Kitten Central of Placer County which is a local non-profit organization that fosters homeless kittens in a loving environment. This program is run by 25 families who foster animals for more than nine rescue organizations. They see roughly 300 to 500 kittens a year.
With so many kittens coming in, they need the funds to finance their operations to provide the necessities needed to care for the animals.
The collection day is this Saturday, May 11th from 9am to 1pm in the Granite Oaks Middle School parking lot at 2600 Wyckford Blvd.
This is such a win-win-win. You get to clean out your garage and just drive over to the school. The students will be there to help you unload and you’re done. Easy, simple and quick!
It’s a win for you, a win for the environment and a win for the kittens. Additionally, it’s awesome to see 7th graders taking the bull by the horns and getting involved in the community. Being a Rotary Club member, this is very near and dear to my heart. Let’s encourage these kids to take this spirit into adulthood and we build a better community in the process.
