Wildlife In Rocklin

Ring-Necked Pheasant In The Open

[nggallery id=7]

One of the things I love about this area is that it’s on the edge of the country but still very close to most things city.  When I lived in Monterey many years ago, I traveled through the Rocklin area on the way to Tahoe and would think “who would live in this god forsaken wasteland?”  The short answer is me! LOL

While there is no comparison of this area to the coast, it is very unique in it’s own way.  For instance, some of the wildlife you’ll see here you won’t see on the coast and visa versa.

I was out walking with my family last week and could hear the call of 2 pheasant in the adjacent field.  I looked over and was able to capture a picture of this beautiful bird in a small open field just 25 yards away from me. While I’ve seen them before through this stretch of greenbelt off of Blue Oaks and Sonora Pass Road, they don’t come out in the open too much.  It was very cool. 🙂
